A. All drivers have years of experience. They are background checked and carry the Jessica Lunsford Card. All have DOT medicals and are randomly drug tested. Safety is our #1 concern and drivers have a safety audit every 6 months. Driving records are checked by our insurance company and by our safety department.
Q: Are the buses clean?
A: They are cleaned each time they return from a trip. This included the toilets being dumped and disinfected. They are also cleaned during multi day tours when possible.
Q; Are the buses safe?
A: Mechanically all buses require a DOT annual inspection. The drivers also do a pre-trip inspection each time the bus moves. We use the best parts and tires available in the industry. Although some bus companies use recapped tires which are perfectly legal, we do not. At the end of each trip a Driver Vehicle Inspection Report (DVIR) is done.
Q: Can we eat on the bus?
A: that will depend on the driver and you. All drinks will require lids and definately no dairy products. If the driver does allow eating and drinking on the bus (and they almost all do) I would highly suggest that you clean up any trash. Our drivers take pride in their motor coaches and they do keep them clean for you.
Q: Do you drive at night?
A: drivers are allowed 10 hours of driving in a 24 hour period. However we can drive any time you wish. If a trip requires more than 10 hours of driving we position a relay driver ahead. We do not put 2 drivers on the bus. (However there is 1 exception to this rule when the total driving time is 15 hours or less) Most drivers prefer driving at night because of less traffic.
Q: How often do we stop?
A: This is your charter. We will stop on your request. All our motor coaches have restrooms. Just remember what you put in there stays in there! The restrooms however do have vacuum vents which do well. Most people like to stop about every 2 to 2 & 1/2 hours for a break and stretch their legs.
Q: Do you travel out of state?
A: Yes. This is a good time to mention that insurance requirements must have higher liability limits in order to go out of state. Many companies do not maintain the $5 million dollars required but travel out of state anyway. You should request a certificate of insurance to verify that $5 million are the limits on the policy.
